Front seat heaters S90-V90

A small surprise on my new 97 V90 is that it has no seat heaters. For some strange reason, on the top of the line Volvo they decide for two years not to install them as standard equipement, after decades of use on every other Volvo every produced. Go figure! There are plugs there on the center console instead of switches.

Anybody know if there is any part of the seat heater system pre-installed? I fear that if the heating pad is not there, it would be very costly to install them. It's not that big a deal hat I can't live with, but htought I'd ask....thanks.

They were replaced by the "Magic Fingers" action. Drop a quarter in the seat heater slot and see what happens.

The heating pads aren't there. If the car was a southern car, it might not have had them; a lot of southern cars didn't have seat heaters or any part of cold weather packages.

Actually, you'd be surprised at how inexpensive it is to have aftermarket units fitted (which you could even use with original switch parts if you were so inclined). It isn't free... but I wouldn't shop Volvo for the stuff.

In this Baltimore climate, it's something I can live without, but it sure will seem strange to have a Volvo w/o seat heaters! I may look into the the aftermaket, Chris, but wouldn't they have to be installed in the same manner as the OEM? I've been told that the real barrier is getting the heating pads under the upholstery, in this case leather.

The wiring may not be there as well. Our 95 960 has no seat heaters and I've had the console off and the wires for the switches are not there.
