need a little help on wheels 200

Hi,

I have an 84 242 turbo with the virgo alloys and want to get a set of steel wheels for general use with 205 street tires while I refinish the alloys. Will 15" wheels from a 700 work? My local volvo mechanic told me that the steel 14's from a 240 might not clear the calipers.

Just want whatever is cheapest and straight. That's why I was not thinking of another set of virgos or aftermarkets. (however if you have something to offer, I am open to suggestions.)

Thanks, dave

The 15" 740 wheels are always a good fit and allow you to run more of a performance tire (195/60-15 or similar). I don't believe you'll run into any clearance problems with 14's though. To my knowledge no 240 model has any wheel clearance issues with the exception being that some alloys require you to take off the screw/locating pin for the wheel and replace it with something shorter (like a regular M6 bolt). One set of my Virgos has deep enough wells cast into it to clear these pins; one set doesn't. Go figure.
Anyways... you can often find a really good deal on 15" alloys from a 760, if you happen to like those patterns or wheel designs, and they'll all fit just fine.
