keyless entry without alarm,which unit is best/cheaoest? 700 1990

already got hockey stick shaped ? motor from ebay for 1 buck for driver's door.Has anybody found a cheap keyless DIY system to connect to the ?motor. Thanks in advance for sharing experience.
I find the aftermarket keyless entry/alarm system in my MB drains the battery so that if 3 days not used, the battery is almost completely drained.hence more interested in a remote keyless entry system without alarm/flashing light etc
Tom

There are plenty of systems in the $100-200 range that will do everything you need. It's simply a radio receiver and relay/control pack that goes in the driver's door. You do need to make sure you can link the door motor to the lock mechanism. When you have it apart, you'll see that "something else" is needed for the connection to the lock rod, probably- another link or clip, which may come with the generic installation kit.
Any shop which does stereo and alarm installs can most likely help you out with the proper advice and the kit you'll need.
We have a half dozen local shops that do this work, but they aren't chain stores so i doubt it would help to give you their names...

The right hand door locking motor fits, all you have to do is flip the parts to mirror image. Two of the three wires used for the locking switch can be used to operate the "new" locking motor and linkage for the drivers door. The receiver/realy can be mounted under the dash.

The shops which ordinarily instasl alarms like to use the locking motor from their kit for the driver's door. Sometimes this ends up being quite the butcher job.
