96 960 remote 900

I have the one on the top for my 97 V90. After fiding the bottom one on eBay, I checked with my dealer and was informed that it would not work on my car. Previous posts are correct, the design is poor, but I haven't ownd it long enought to comment on the misfirings or battery wear.

I think the even simpler design of my '92 with alarm is better. I single button locks and unlocks the car. And, if you misfire after setting it, it will reset itself after a minute.

96 960 remote 900

Hi TORREC57:

I have a 1996 960 and it originally came with the remote on the top. I recently purchased the BOTTOM remote from the same ebayer you described in the BOTTOM remote. I have tried to program the BOTTOM remote but have not been successful yet. From your replies to this post, it seems "jbowers" is able to use the bottom remote on his/her model 965.

Can you or anyone help figure out how to program the BOTTOM remote for my 1996 960?

TIA,
peone

Hi,

I have a '97 960 sedan. Mine came with the top one. I bought it used in '99 and assume that is what came with the car.

Mine is the same as the top one. Locking is easy, but unlocking takes some practice. After 6 years of "practicing", I still misfire though.

It really is a stupid design. As a user, you'd kinda wish you could have sat in on the design discussions, or look over the shoulder of the 'fresh out of school' graduate who was assign this tough task.

" Say Bernard, sometimes its a good idea to design the 'open button' a little differently than the 'lock button'. Well, I know you've got it slightly smaller than the lock button, but try thinking out of the box here. How about another color, or shape or orientation..? And while your at it, you might want to put a slight ridge around the open button to guard against accidental pressing."

"By the way, Bernie, what kind of car do you drive..oh really?...never mind... just keep working"
