Wanted: In-tank Fuel Level Sender. 140-160 1970

I am interested in purchasing the in-tank fuel level sender for a 1970 144, in good working order of course. 2 years without a fuel gage gets to be mighty annoying..... please contact me by email. Thanks, Brad M.

Wanted: In-tank Fuel Level Sender. 140-160 1970

I just ordered one for my 73 from drivewire.com for $26.84, which had a better price than carparts.com. Of course, I don't know what I'll get. It could be some part of the fuel pickup. It is probably the same as your 70. Only in 74 I think did they change to a combo pickup/sender

Wanted: In-tank Fuel Level Sender. 140-160 1970

I had about 15 years of it with my 69 164 and finally found that the
nuts on the back of the gauge were not tight. Apparently it is a problem
of mismatched threads with a torque-sensing installation system so when
the mismatched threads don't screw together, the torque sensor interprets
it as "tight enough" without making good electrical contact.
This is a problem with all the early dashes on 140/164. Pull your panel
out and railroad those nuts home and I'll bet you'll find your gauge works.
(Glad you put the year on your post!)
