A/C 'coughs' while cruising 900 1993

It appears that my A/C is doing something it shouldn't and it sounds like a cough for the inside the car. It occurs at regular intervals. It appears to be most notable at 2500RPM and up. My best guess is the pump is seizing and it is the belt slippage that I hear. This has been going on for several hundred miles and approximately 4 months, with no loss to the effectiveness or cooling abilities of my A/C.

Any Ideas?

Sounds familiar.
I had the same this summer.
Your A/C needs service. The pressure is at a minimum, so you need a refill of R13. You cannot simply add fluid; everything has to be drained , then a check will be done on leakage with some friendly gas. When there is no leakage, the system will be refilled with the proper amount of R13.
Both overpressure and underpressure should be within limits.
Best advice: find a good A/C servicestation

best regards,
John
