940 Front Brake Clips 900 1993

1993 940

I'm in the middle of replacing the front brake pads. I'm having a rough time getting the calipers to slide smoothly because the clips on the side of the pads keep hanging up.

Do I install the pads with the clips in the caliper? Or do instal the pads and insert the clips later? How do I do this?

I just left them on, and put a little silicone on them. The problem was the clip was bent and the spring on the new pad sprung a little, so that made it a little harder. All of the old pads had disintegrated backing plates. 2 of them had a significant portion of the pad's spring corroded away. I'm not sure what brand they were.
