Help! Brake bleeding turned south. 200 1983

Fellas:
After completing a major front end jod (replaced tie rods & ends, strut cartridges & bearings and all front suspension bushings), I decided to bleed the brakes. Heck! The car's already up on blocks so, why not? Everything's going OK, my wife doing the brake pedal pumping and I, the brake bleed fittings. Then, the ultimate stupidity set in. Working on the third fitting, my wife mentioned that it didn't feel the same. I checked the reservoir and guess what? Yes! I let it run dry. Now, the pedal just kind-a go all the way. So, OK this is the first time I did a brake bleed flush and I am aware that I was suppossed to make sure the reservoir didn't run dry. Now, did I somehow screw something bigger than dog pooh-pooh? Help me fellow bricksters!

I'd recommend removing the master cylinder and bench bleeding it to make sure you get all of the air out of it. It takes about 45 minutes to remove, bleed and reinstall. It'll make the whole bleeding process easier 'cause it's a bear to get all the air out the system if the master cylinder wasn't bench bled.

Check out this recent thread regarding brakes, good info on how to bleed in proper sequence. you might want to think about getting a pressure type bleeder, IPD sells one and a company called motive products sells one as well.
    good luck,

    Matt

    Hello,

All is not lost. Keep filling it up every time you go thru a pump cycle and keep bleeding her until she gets pressure. If you continue bleeding to no avail, you may have pooched your master cylinder(the internal seals may have seen their day) which may have been the reason why your brakes felt like they needed to be bled in the first place.

    Good luck and happy bricking,

    Richard

And I was counting on making it to the alignment shop tommorow. Talking about Murphy.

If it was up to Murphy, you would have snapped the bleed nipple on both so you had to fit recon calipers. Needless to say while changing them out you would snap the lines - repeat all the way down the line to the MC.

      Consider yourself lucky
