AC Compressor 200 1988

My AC compressor froze up on me. As the AC hasn't worked in 2 years due to a leak I replaced it with one from the u-pull-it. At least now it turns the belt for my power steering pump. A tag on the AC compressor says 6.2 oz of oil. I checked the amount of oil in the new (used ) one and there was only about 1 oz in there. My question is...if I don't plan on making the AC functional again do I need to add this oil to the compressor and if I do what kind of oil does it take? Thanks for the help.

Dave

Pick up an AC bypass kit from IPDUSA.com, it will allow you to bypass the AC compressor altogether while still running the other accessories. And you will get a small gain in HP.

Oil's only necessary if the clutch is engaged on the compressor, so you don't need to add oil.
