Wiring Diagram 200

Good afternoon. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a full wiring diagram for my 1983 242 turbo. I have the haynes manual, but I am sick and tired of looking at their incomplete wiring diagram. Any suggestions (website included) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

Greg

Buy the official Volvo wiring diagram, like one of the other posters said. You will not be sorry. I've got them for all three of my cars -- I think Volvo's wiring diagrams are just wonderful.

    Call 1-800.25-VOLVO, as I remember.

Concur with other posts that you should look for original Volvo literature. I've not looked for your model year, but the commercial references, even the professional hard-bound references published for commercial garages, have not been completely correct for any Volvo that I have ever worked on. I recently worked on a 1987 with a fuel pump relay circuit problem. We got three different references from the library of the auto shop at the local junior college. The three references were all different, and none of them exactly matched the wiring on the car. (it turned out that the relay was simply stuck open but reset itself when we temporarily bypassed it at the fuse to start the car, car has run fine for a year since the "repair")

The 1983 is a transition model, the engine and some of the body style is "new" and the rest of the car is 1982. I bought the Volvo Wiring Diagrams for my 1983 and got a thin book that is actually a supplement to the 1982 book. The 1983 book covers only those things that changed from the 1982.

It covers the LH-Jetronic engine management system, the heater blower motor, and the new 16 fuse panel connections. It also has a complete schematic, with the nice Volvo system of locating items by item number and alphabetically by item name. You may need to get both books.

Look at http://www.volvotechinfo.com/index.asp and you should find it.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

I bought the wiring diagram for my 82 242ti from Volvo. Just goto the Volvo site and follow the links to literature for the older models. They are usually about
$20-25 for the book but it is the most accurate and informative wiring diagram
for the car. It's one of the sections of the manual on the site.

alldata.com has wiring diagrams that are neatly chunked out according to subsystem. You need an account, though, and if you're on dialup be prepared for glacial retrieval times. You can get a CD from them, better probably than paying for subscription. Beware of electrical component location callouts from alldata- on 700 series at least there a few errors. Note that these do not affect the accuracy of the schematics themselves.
