Instrument cluster replacement 200

Looks like my instrument cluster is dying a slow death,Speedo jumps on startup and a dead temp gauge now. Any suggestions as to replacement. And will an 86 fit a 88 240DL? I am thinking of doing the boneyard replacement. Any website/links that sell these things? Thanx ALL

My O.D. and Trip O.D. are both dead. I was going to start a thread about this... should I just replace the whole cluster?

boneyard for me and my '83 (245gl)

For both of you- the clusters are easy to replace. The 83 I think is the last year for the mechanical speedometer. It's somewhere in that range. 85 has an electronic speedo.
The 86-88 swap is not a problem, in fact there wouldn't be a real issue up to 92. The 93 has a slightly different speedometer and the "ABS" light.
The earlier cars have basically the same instruments but the speedo needs to be mechanical or electric depending on what you've got originally.

What do I have to swap to get electrical speedometer?
I've got 1980' 242dl.

In time, I will have b6304f engine and M90H transmission.

The '80 instrument cluster is different from the '81+ and switching to the later panel would be very difficult. A nice swap is the R Sport instrument panel which shows up occasionally on the classifieds and ebay. Fits 78-80. Not electric but very nice.

Northern European Auto recyclers in Seattle has 2 GT clusters on their shelf and for sale in great shape. I don't recall how much. I also don't recall their phone number but I feel I must plug them since It's been almost a week and I haven't paid for some parts I got from them. They're good folks and have anything you'll ever need for your Volvo.
