1980 240 splutters when hot 200 1980

Hello all
This is a query for my brother, he has a 244 1980. The car runs really badly on hot days when the car warms up. He says it is like it is starving for fuel, but will run. When he shuts it down it will not start again for 15 minutes. He has replaced the fuel pump recently. I would suspect FI temp sensor causing bad mixture.
Any other ideas? he lives at a distance and I can not see the car but would like to give him some ideas.

This may be a case of a bad intank fuel pump. If just the main pump was serviced
but the intank or prepump wasn't at least checked this would make the car hard to start when warmed up or in hot weather. You can get to the prepump by the access
port in the trunk.
