Dead speedo on '89 740 700 1989

Hi,

My speedo died today on my '89 740; it had always worked fine and now is completely dead. I pulled out the dash and everything seems to be plugged in correctly etc. Also the odometer and tripmeter still work. Can anyone tell me which of the wires on the back of the dash connect to the speedo, and what voltages are normally expected from the sender unit so i can try to test it? Also, where should i look to check the connections at the sender unit?

Thanks!

Brad

Problem must be within the speedo/odo unit as your odo is working. The odo and speedo operate off the same signal from the sender. Easiest solution might be to replace entire speedo/odo head unit with one from a pick and pull.

The sender comes from the differential. Near the top and on the back side. A two wire connector. Your problem sounds more like the gearing withing the spedo head as your odometer is still functioning.
