So how big is my gas tank??? 700

Hi all,
my 1991 740T book claims I have a 21 gallon tank, however the needle gets really low long before that. The car is new to me and I don't want to run it dry, (not good for pumps and may pick up trash to boot)

I have not put more than 14 and 3/4 gallons in it but I have not had the low fuel light go on either.

Regards

Woody

Probably an aborted design change that made it into the documentation by mistake. Anyway, most docs that I've ever seen have a disclaimer that says "specifications subject to change w/o notice" or something to that effect.

15.8 gallons 700

The big 21 gal tanks were only used on post-'88 760s and 940s.

Do you know if/which later model wagon tank would reto-fit to my '88 765? With the 5.0 V8 I'm running, the extra capacity would be a big help.

Thanks. -Boozer

Funny you should ask, this recent thread covered just that.
