repeated sterring rack failure 900 1993

I bought my daughter a 960 6 months ago. The steering rack needed to be replaced at that time. I had it done by a mechanic I trust but the rack has failed twice since and now is failing again. Last time, he replaced it with a different brand but said if it failed again, it might also have a bad power steering fluid pump. What do you think?

    If you don't replace the lines and the pump, do flush the system out at least twice AND install an inline filter in the return line. This should eventually clen up the system.

    Most suppliers will not warranty their replacements unless the system has been flushed thoroughly.

    If the pump fails, it can spread small particles throughout the system and ruin the rack seals. A rebuilt pump is cheap insurance against this happening. In addition, make sure he flushes the fluid from all the lines before starting it up.
