Speedometer Cable 200

I am having difficulty reattaching my speedometer cable on my 85. It sort of stays in, but chirps at high speed. I know I have not got it secure.

Clueless....

You either haven;t got it screwed in squarely or the cable itself is bad. If it didn't chirp before, and it does now, it's probably due to misalignment. Unscrew it again and make sure it's not cross-threaded. Pull the cluster back out if you have to and do it from above where you may be able to see what's going on back there. Good luck!

the end of the cable heading into the dash has a sort of screw on it( the large metal/plastic piece) and it goes over or into the back of the odometer area with 2 pins sticking out. basically just slide it into the back push gently and twist it, then it will lock in place.

oh, and i did mine without taking out the dash, you can reach up undernieth if you would like, if you are limber enough!

hope this helps,
Chuck
