Need help with brake pedal removal (Swapping in a manual trans) 700

Hello,

I am in the process of converting my '88 744 Turbo from automatic to manual. All of the conversion parts came from an '84 764 Turbo, and I started to tackle installing the clutch and brake pedals today. The problem is that while I have the assembly unbolted from the firewall I can't even begin to imagine how to pull it out. I'm thinking that the one main obstacle I have is the computer that is bolted to the side of the bracket. Can I just unhook the wiring harness from the computer to get it out? I tried to pull it off, but it only comes off halfway. I saw a phillips head screw at the end that wouldn't come off and removed it, but it still will not come off. Also, will I have to pull the steering shaft? It seems like that would be in the way as well.

Thanks,

Matthew

I only removed the computer. There's more screws than you think, so look around. That has to be the worst position to be in. Turning around so you're on your back works best, but then it's a pain to get out. If you still have trouble, you could dissassemble the long pivot bolt, then the cage comes apart.
