Dear Santa, pls give me a new car for C'mas..... 900 1991

Hello guys,

After been a relative long trouble free months, my 1991 940 16 valve is acting up. But its a minor annoying problem this time. My problem is with the trunk lock. As we all know the trunk can be locked or unlocked from the driver's door and this feature can be disabled or enabled by the sequence turning of the key lock at the trunk lid.

But I cannot control the lock/unlock function of the trunk from the driver's door. I can manually lock or unlock the trunk but not from the driver's door. I ripped the mechanism out and checked the motor whilst my wife was locking and unlocking the driver's door. The pump worked fine. I tried to adjust the rod from the keylock at the trunk to the lock mechanism (bad bad idea) and I must have over done it because after I fixed everything and slammed shut the trunk lid, I could not get it open at all. It went into the permenant lock mode. Turning the key either ways could not get the lock mechanism engaged to open the trunk. So I took it to a shop and they had to remove the lamp assembly (the rear light, reverse light and fog light bits) on the trunk lid. They did this through the opening at the rear seat armrest ...cool...) and then fiddle with the rod before the trunk lid can be opened. They had adjusted the rod and I can lock/unlock and open the trunk lid manually but the initial problem is not solved which is I cannot get it locked or unlocked from driver's door. So guys... what am I missing here....

thanks for any input

Hi Velan,
Trouble with Santa's cars is they are all to scale and rarely have boots that open. Look good on the mantlepiece and cheap to keep!

Thought you might have a BMW by now!

Sorry can't be of any help.

Take care,
John H from Downunder
