front end 200 1989

Hi,im back again, ive got a front end question this time,my 244 seems to have developed a clunking noise in the front when rolling and turning, also a shimmey in the front end at higher speeds ive already checked the tires, this is normally a ball joint,if any of you have come across a similar problem to this drop me a line this way i can atleast get a heads up to the worst case scenerio.

My guess is the same as JetDriver. The Bushing that bolts to the firewall cause that trailing arm to clunk. Fortunately they are one of the easiest to replace.

The shimmy: Is there any play in the tire indicating your wheel bearings are shot or that the bolt backed off a bit?

It is probably the bushing that is in the pyramid shaped metal bolted to the front floor pan. There is also a bushing in the control arm toward the motor. You might as well get a kit from ipd and replace all on both sides. If you've got 120k miles then you might look at the outer tie rod ends and ball joints. If the boots are split then the grease is probably gone. These are permenently greased. You don't want to loose a ball joint at speed cause the wheel will come loose and make for dangerous poop in the pants driving. You also could have a broken stut tower mount which will also cause clunking.
