123 GT LSD diff compatibility

Hello,

I know this has been covered here before but I didn't find the answer in the archives. A 123 GT has a Dana 27 rear, correct? So if I find a LSD unit from a 123GT it should fit in my '66 122 without modification, right?

Thanks.

Nope early 120's used the 27, they changed to type 30 in late '67 or so.

Oh man. Really? I thought the 30 came along in 1970. Good thing I didn't buy it already. Is there any other information i ought to know, then? Just "Dana 27"?

Since I don't know what you don't know I can't know what you should know!

Seriously though, it's easy to tell the type 27 and type 30 apart. On a type 27 the main axle tube is 57 MM in diameter, on a type 30 its 63.5 MM.

Why am I playing with this at 1.30 in the morning when I have to be up at 5.30 and have a very comfortable bed to go to???

Regards

Pete

I was meaning, is the Volvo Dana 27 different than the Dana 27 in, say a Jeep or whatever.

You were staying up late because you are nice and helpful! Hopefully your limited sleep was at least sound.

I don't really know, Jeep type 27 axles are rarer here than Volvo ones.
