Tire wear pattern 700 1989

What causes even, but abnormal tire wear on the outside edges of this 700 series?

Tire wear pattern

Hi, Zee!

Both inner and outer edges of both front tires? Sounds like chronic underinflation.

Just the outer edges of either or both front tires? Sounds like excessive toe in. Some folks who autocross like to adjust for slight toe in -- supposedly makes the steering more responsive to inputs. Should also wear the outer edges.

I had this problem a few years back and burned the edges off a set of new tires.
My problem was a poor wheel alignment, once I fixed that, things were noticably better. (Symptoms for my car inc. shaking steering wheel at certain speeds)

Hope it helps.

Tim
