Wagon rear hatch lock 200

I replaced the rear hatch in my '90 240 Wagon with one from an '87 Wagon. Everything was compatible except now the power locks don't lock the hatch. When you toggle the power locks with either the key in the driver's door or by pulling the lock up and down, you can hear a clicking noise inside the hatch lock but it doesn't actually engage. I could always go back to the junkyard and get the key and carry both keys around, but I assumed it would work with the power locks and I wouldn't be able to use a key at the hatch.

Any ideas?

Wagon rear hatch lock

1. if you hear the noise inside the hatch, the solenoid is working. I suspect you either have an incorrectly installed, or disconnected linkage.

2. you should be able to swap the lock from your old tailgate into the new one. Then you need only the one key.
