Aftermarket/factory CD changer???? 900 1995

My 95 960 did not come with the cd changer. I want to use the factory wiring and mounting that is in the trunk. I was told that Volvo used Alpine units. Does anyone know which Alpine unit or aftermarket unit will install with the factory wiring and mounting? I guess I also need to check that the radio has cd changer controls on it!

Jim

Aftermarket/factory CD changer???? 900 1995

I did the same with my 96 964. Check out http://store.autotoys.com and look under the OEM section and find your model. Prices around $230 (my unit was is an Alpine). Look at items 121-123. Had mine for about 2 years. Works great, but the car was already wired (in trunk) for the changer. Check before buying.

Aftermarket/factory CD changer???? 900

Hello there. I have recently learned about all this stuff from buying a 1995 940 wagon. If you do have factory CD-changer wiring (you will see two female plugs: one for power , one for audio signals), then you will either have to buy Volvo OEM 6 CD changer (check Ebay) or get an adapter for use with Alpine changers. See the Soundgate website (www.soundgate.com) for adapters. I had a CR-915 stereo. Depending on what you have things maybe a bit different. Good luck.

Aftermarket/factory CD changer????

If your unit is OEM and has the changer options on the dash plate, it may be pre-wired. Just lift the floor pane in the cargo area behind the wheel well on the passenger's side. You shold find the hook-up there. I don;t know about the dash side; it may not require any work.

The 'premium' sound system on my 97 V90 has all the prerequisites.
