power windows conversion possible? 200

I've been spoiled by new cars.

I have a decent 87 245 with crank windows. I've been getting parts from my sister's old 91 245 that has a bent frame and lots of exterior damage. however, the power windows work. Does anyone have any experience with a conversion like this? possible? The other day i took off my interior door panel for the first time to check out the system. Im not afraid to exchange them.
If its complicated, thats ok because im a 17 year old with lots of free tinker-time.

Just looking for some expertise

How about power mirrors? i think i heard about somebody using a system out of an old saab 900.....in time perhaps...1st things 1st

it is 100% do-able. 240s are built for assembly line ease.

If you have the patience, every bit can be removed and put in your car.

You CAN swap in the door panels, too.

I think the window 'carrier' and linkage is different for power windows than for manual, although I know there was a dealer-installed kit which basically replaced the crank (and switches were in the dash). If it's easy enough to do, just grab the whole window assembly, glass and all. You'll have to get power lines thru the door jambs, but beyond that it should be all pretty much bolt-on. You'll need the door handles to mount the switches, too.

The power window harnesses are all seperate from the rest of the wiring. With a little time and care you can pull everything out and put it in your '87. You will have to plug the holes in the door for the old cranks and do some modification to the door panels to mount the power window armrests. Time consuming but doable. As to the power mirrors that's an easy changeover if the '91 has them, I put heated power mirrors out of a '93 in my '88, took about 1 hour total, can't help with any information on Saab or other replacements.

Hmmm...wondering about this myself. I've got an 88 245 that could use a little powering up too.

So let's help me...er...GMoney out and give with some experiences, huh? ;-)

      Alright then. Thanks.
I want to try doing this for free, so I don't think i'll get the dealer item. I'll take a closer look at both doors and wiring systems. Instead of plugging the hole, i'll probably just use the whole door panel from the 91 if it fits.
