I really like the Mobil 1 motor oil in my brick. I had problems with sticky valves that are completely gone with the switch to synthetic motor oil. What improvements have you noticed with synthetic transmission fluid? I plan on installing a transmission cooler and possibly a mag-filter. I don't mind changing the transmission fluid every 50K or so.

PS - does anyone know where to get a magnetic filter online? I have been looking for the one made by Tekonsha but my local dealers don't stock it. Tekonsha part 4350A TFSTM MagFilter.

    Thank you all for your advice. It sounds pretty unanimous. I will switch to synthetic transmission fluid, and hopefully look forward to many miles without major transmission service.

    IPD has these, check them out online IPDUSA.com (IIRC).

    PS - does anyone know where to get a magnetic filter online? I have been looking for the one made by Tekonsha but my local dealers don't stock it. Tekonsha part 4350A TFSTM MagFilter.

    I flushed with Amsoil Universal Synthetic ATF on all three cars early this summer. It drops the temperature big time. Very smooth.

        I have them on both 940's, and I think in place of making expensive modifications or melting stuff off the front end by going higher wattage they are real good. When I bought them I found the best price at "truckstuff.com." I noticed they were a lot higher price at the local Murray's recently.

        Check out sylvania's website. I switched our 960 and S90 to Silverstar bulbs and really like them. They approach the color output of natural light as close as you can get to HID without actually have a full blown HID setup.

    Synthetic is nearly essential in the AW30 tranny since overheating is a problem (see the FAQ) and will set trouble codes. My experience over seven cars with Mobil 1 ATF is exceptional: less wear, better shifting, zero tranny troubles in cars with, in two instances, over 200k miles.

    i not too long ago did a flush with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF on my 740. I noticed the shifting seemed a bit smoother. I have heard from many folks that the temperature of the transmission drops an appreciable amount, and as we all know, a cooler transmission is better.

    It's expensive to do the flush, but I don't regret dropping the money for it at all.
