Antenna Mast Replacement 700 1988

Hello Everyone,

Since my 16 year old son now drives my 88 740, which I have loaned him, his name appears on these posts. See what happens when you loan your kids stuff?
Anyway, I have to replace the antenna mast on the car and I opened and removed the broken geared nylon runner from the storage reel housing...thanks to the FAQs. My question is, should I lube the new runner that is attached to the mast before I insert it to be wound onto the reel? I only wiped some of the grime out of the reel area before I closed it up. Should I reopen and lube the nylon gears in the unit, as well? If so, with what? Thanks in advance.

Antenna Mast Replacement

On mine I disassembled the reel, cleaned out all the grease, washed all the parts, and reassembled it all with marine grease, including a little bit on the teeth. Overkill, I know, but it works great...
