240 suspension. etc... 200 1991

My 1991 240 wagon has a rattling noise from the front and rear when going over a pot hole. I recently replaced struts with Boge air, and rear shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends.( high quality) The rattle is still there.
The front rattle seems to be tied to each side independantly. The rear seems to be linked. I do not notice it being different when one side or the other hits a depression. I need trans support but it doesn't seem to be related to the susp. problem

Car seems to want to oversteer, swim when turning, manuvering.

SRS light stays on. I've checked the forum but wondered it anyone had other ideas.
Thanks,

Diddo on the bushings. For the SRS light, go the features section, the 700/900 FAQs and look through the index. There is a section on resetting the SRS and codes.

Have you checked the rear suspension bushings? Worn rear trailing arm bushings on my 245 gave clunks on backing up then starting forward and also on rough roads. I've read that worn torque rod and track rod bushings can give an unstable steering and tracking. I replaced my torque rod bushings along with the rear trailing arm bushings and shocks plus struts. A huge improvement!

I did have a clunk in the front after replacing the struts. It turned out to be the strut cartridge retainer nut needed another 1/3 turn to tighten up. An IPD publication listed several bolts in the front to tighten if there were clunks. As I recall they were the bolts on the front cross member, the rear bushing mounts and the steering unit. Worn front bushings can also cause klunks.

Strut mounts can fail especially after installing new or stiffer shocks. Had this happen on two cars. Now I replace the strut mounts whevever I've got them out for strut replacement. In the rear I would guess the torque rod bushings. Might as replace all while your there.
