How does one replace the light that illuminates the tranny gear indicators on the console? What is the correct replacement bulb for it?

just did this on my 93 965. dissassemble the console, pop the holder out from under the PRNDL, the bulb is an ordinary "wheat seed" bulb. It is likely to be very tight, I had to pull mine out of the holder with pliers. Replace the bulb, reseat the socket. This last operation is delicate. It can be difficult to find the hole. Be careful, I bent and then broke off, one of the metal retaining springs on the socket. The new socket is $18 dealer retail as opposed to $0.90 for a bulb. Good luck
