ECU Swap 200

Back on the road again! Thanks for your help.

Swapped in a 1988 ECU and AMM into my 86 244. Had to put in new plugs to get it to keep running.

Question: The ECU from the 88 had 2 brown wires and the ECU from the 86 had 2 black wires. All other wires matched up color for color. Can't find my Volvo OEM wiring for the '86. Anyone know where the 2 black wires go from the 86 ECU?

There are no wires from the ECU that you should worry about. It is the silver box by the kick panel on the front passengers right knee. The '88 has teh Bosch 554 and your 86 is a 544. The 554 is supposed to be an upgrade for an 86 car with automatic that experiences stalling at stops.

Thanks for the info on the 554/544. I connected the 2 brown wires to the 2 black wires and it worked fine but it seems odd to have 2 wires that are the same color when the other 15 wires all were different colors. Just curious which sensors the black wires were connected to.

By the by, do you know how to prevent spikes from entering the ECU from the sensors? Some sort of capacitor in parallel or ??
