945T - low on power/mileage - please help 900

Can you guys please advise me on this? My 94 945T (99k) has lost it’s turbo ‘edge’. I had the opportunity to drive fellow brickboarder Rey Solcruz’s 940T this weekend - and yes indeed, my car used to run like his. Looking back, I can’t pinpoint the exact time I started noticing this, but because of my high idle problems (now fixed), I wasn’t noticing it as much from a dead stop. Also, my fuel economy is down about 4-5 mpg since my power has dropped.

Since I’ve had the car (July 2002), I’ve replaced many of the suspension/brake components, had the valves adjusted, replaced the timing belt and seals, changed fluids, spark plugs, water pump, turbo intake-to-turbo hose, cleaned the throttle body, cat back exhaust, etc..etc...etc. The car ran great through all these repairs.

However, I want to say it was around the time I replaced the radiator and all the cooling hoses/turbo cooling and oil hoses and heater control valve that my power must’ve gone away. But again, because of the high idle, I really didn’t notice it from a dead stop as much as now that my idle is normal. It feels almost slower than my wife’s 940. Yikes!

Since the loss in power, I have replaced the throttle position switch, the idle air control valve, the fuel pressure regulator, air filter, distributor cap/rotor, the knock sensor (all of which helped me get my idle/smoothness back). However, still no power/mileage.

This past weekend, I checked the turbo impeller - no play, no noise, no smoky exhaust or oily hoses or engine using oil. The wastegate rod is connected as well. As far as my boost guage - it reads ‘normally’. Boosts anywhere from 12 o’clock to 2 o’clock during heavy acceleration. I don’t think this has changed.

I HAVE NOT yet done the propane test to check for vacuum hose leaks. And I have not pulled the plug on the exhaust before the cat converter (these either go out or don’t, right?). I also read in the faq that I should consider replacing the ignition coil - but really don’t want to unless necessary - as I don’t think I have an ‘intermittent’ problem. And possibly pulling the intake manifold and resealing.

I greatly appreciate and will follow any advice. The brick is no fun to drive these days :(

Check the following:

1.) Catalytic converter

2.) O2 sensor

3.) MAF

The 700/900 FAQ has good info for these items.
