1991 960 900 1991

Hello hello.

I have an old (1991) 960 (B6304FS) and few things are on the repair list.

First on the long repair list is the engine rear end seal, is there anything there to watch out ? It looks like this is a common problems on those.

Next is to change oil in the transmission, I did flush out and put in new oil for about 35000 miles ago. The trans is working fine but it slightly over-rev the engine when first going int 4th gear, hot or cold. Is there any easy fix on this, the tranny has been doing this since I got the car and it has not gone worse, but it is a little irritating. What oil is recomended and are there any additives out there usable ?

Is there any chance to adjust co level on those ? I know that in some Volvo's it is possible to drill out a little seal in the air mass meter housing and adjust the co level, any tricks here or is this simply not possible on those?

Timing belt replacement is comming soon up, I see that someone here mentioned damper wheel on the exhaust cam. Anybody have an pn for that ? I live in europe and this is something that will not be handed out like in the states, we dont get claim parts as easy here as in the states, when the car is 1 year old, you are on your own...

One or two hydrolyc lifters are ticking on and off, are those failing or is this due to low oil pressure ? the car has 120000 miles on it and this is the only noise from the engine.

When I turn the steering wheel to full left or right the pump makes a terrible ticking/metalic sound, (not slipping on belt) are those pumps rebuildable or shall I look for another pump ? This has been like this the last 20000 miles and has not gone worse.

Does anybody know of an trim chip maufacturer for those cars...?

Thank you for your reply.....
Sorry for the spelling :-)

1 No idea

3 Only way to adjust CO level is to replace the O2 sensor. With a faulty O2 sensor, you get too much fuel and thus too high a CO level.

6 Typical Volvo, replace pump or live with it.

Sorry, I cannot help more.
