Does anyone know the significance of the "male" symbol incorporated into the Volvo logo?

From the viewpoint of those of us who drive them, it seems to translate to something like "F*** 'em if they can't take a joke".

I think you're all making this too complicated.

Obviously the logo means "kickass", as in "a kickass family car".
We can aslo assume that the 3 point star Mercedes uses means "daily".

Volvo used the symbol for iron, to have the name Volvo associated
with something strong and durable. That's their official claim anyway.
I'm more for the mojo-theory :)

What's the connection between iron and males? Why are the symbols the same?

1: Shield and spear, symbol of roman god of war.

2: Mars (roman name for god of war)

3: mars is a red planet (red like blood)

4: iron turns red when it rusts so they used the symbol of mars, god of war

5: volvo makes ball bearings (name means "I roll" in latin, the language of the romans)

6: ball bearings are typically made of iron or steel so volvo used the symbol of iron for their logo.
