I have defeated the blower motor!! 200 1986

holy crap, I hate blower motors. But there is now a new one in my car, a new resistor, switch, and control valve as well. WAHOO!!! I still can't figure out why it didn't fit and rubbed on the driver's side at first, but after I placed a few washers in there as spacers, all is well. I kept thinking that I MUST have it in backwards or something, but it was right. Anyways, I am victorious now and I thank everyone here for varous help on it, and Art Benstein for his splendid rundown of the job on his website!

i assume you removed everything rather than take the shortcut method. Did you have much problem putting stuff back together, particularly with those damn air ducts? Are there any small replacement parts you might recommend to have on hand before starting the project?

Did you remove the dash?

How long did it take, start to finish?

Congratulations!!!

I have often said that there should be a badge, t-shirt, or hat issued to any Volvo owner who replaces their own heater fan. The emblem could have someone with bandaged hands, snapped spine and a pile of empty beer cans next to them.

Enjoy your years of quiet heater operation.
