Are my Nivomats due for a replacement? 900

I have a 92-960 with 200 000 km. This holiday going to my parents the trunk was loaded with luggage and gifts. Weight is difficult to estimate but maybe between 150 and 250 pounds. The back seat had my baby daughter and some light stuff with me and my wife were in the front. When the three hour trip was done the rear end sagged just as much as when we left. The ride height did not come up to normal at all. When unloaded the ride height came back to normal.

Thanks 92-960

Sounds like you may be due. Hope you can get a good price for them. OEM is extraordinarily expensive, but in the US they are available from Boge/Sachs for about half the price and a full lifetime warranty.

Some have converted to regular shocks, but you also have to change the springs. I think the Nivomats are extremly good shocks, so I sugest you see whether you can obtain them aftermarket. I recently replaced them along with the front struts (and added IPD anti-sway bars) and the ride is excellent.

You cannot convert IRS to normal shocks. Anyway, I am one of few people who have gone the other way and converted my 745 to Nivomats.

I wrongly assumed that he was talking about a wagon (goes with owing one, I supose) with solid axle. Don't know about not converting an IRS to Nivos since Nivomats are an option on my V90 with IRS.
