Hi all,

My donut in the 960 wagon just separated and I'm finding it difficult to find a replacement. The dealer wants $300 for a new assembly, and the tire places claim that it has to be a new assembly as the donught rim can't be re-used. I want to be able to store the spare in the existing spot for it under the third seat. Anyone have a suggestion as to what I can do?

Stock donut tire size is 155R15, correct? Get a 165R15 from ... well, a lot of tire places. Doesn't matter what brand - it's a standard tire, built to the requirements of a standard tire, and can withstand a lot more than 50 miles at 50 mph.

If they don't want to mount it (for liability reasons), cut off that shredded tire, rip off that temporary sticker thing, and tell them that it's a rim that fits an antique Volvo. They'd never know the difference.

If you're looking for donut replacement, then a salvage yard may be yur best choice. Alternatively you might consider buying a fullsize rim and a real tire. Not sure it will fit with the third seat. That might make it tight squeeze.
