tach install 200

Hello,
I have a 1990 240 with the large clock and small tach as an accessory gauge. Irrecently purchased a used large tach to replace my clock and a small clock to go in the pods. I thought I hooked up the wires correctly from the small tach to the large on but it did not work. Plus, the large tach has two extra male ends at the bottom. Help!

Large tach should have a single male spade at bottom that the white/red wire connects to. Did you also get the harness to go from the large tach to accessory clock? This would mate up with the three spades at the top (red, green, black) and go over to the new small clock. I just did this yesterday, painless other than the fact that the tach doesn't read properly. (Still diagnosing this problem).

    Good Luck,
    Jeff

It worked! thanks. Mine seems to be reading properly. I did check the sticker and it did say 4 on it. Check yours.

There should be a paper sticker on the back of the tach that tells the number of cylinders. It may be in german and say 4 zyl (4 cylinder) or 6 zyl. I won't have a chance to check mine since the car is with my in-laws for a while.
