Whining sound while driving 200

Hey all,
I think this problem was recently addressed but haven't checked the archives. Anyway, I've recently noticed a high-pitched whining sound when accelerating or maintaining speeds below 50 mph or so. It is most noticeable when the car is still somewhat cold and lasts for approx 15 min. I'm going to need a new exhaust soon so could that be the possible culprit?? Thanks and happy new year!

Probably the center bearing on the driveshaft.

Driveshaft center bearing? Maybe... maybe not.

Try this: The next time the whining shows up slip the gear into neutral while at speed. If the whining persists then it probably is the driveshaft bearing. If the whining stops while in neutral than the problem is somewhere else. My guess is that a fan belt is slipping. If the belts seem tight, than perhaps the A/C clutch or alternator bearings may be on their way out.

To add to this, if the bushings that are on the alternator and power steering pump mounts are worn out, this can cause the belts to slip under load, which gives a whiney sound when driving. So I'd check them out, too.
