Check engine light-- ECM Fault code 1-1-2 900 1995

On my 95 960, the check engine light has come on over the past few weeks flashing 1-1-2 when I pull the code. If I reset it, it comes on again in a day or less. I've read this code means a fault in the computer (ECM), but I've also heard that it is a generic fault code that may not necessarily mean replacement of the ECM. The car runs fine, starts fine, etc. Any ideas as to the problem? No other codes are stored in the system...only 1-1-2. Thanks.

Check engine light-- ECM Fault code 1-1-2 900 1995

While the information I have is for a Montronic 1.8 it may still apply. The 1-1-2 code is set for a fault in the memory circuits (ROM/EPROM) or RAM when the ignition is on. The code is also set if there is a fault in athe knock sensor circuit. A fault in the knock sensor results in ignition advance reduced for safety and in some case the fuel trim is inhibited. Hopes this helps.
