How do i put a power steering belt on a 1987 240 DL Wagon 200

Is the power steering belt put on by a tentioner or have to unscrew it and screw it back on? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    How do i put a power steering belt on a 1987 240 DL Wagon 200

    You have to loosen two lock nuts before the pump will move. One is located by the adjuster screw and the other is mirror image at the other end of the pump. When tightening the belt, pull the end of the pump nearest the fire wall back by hand as far as you can and snug the lock nut. This will make the pump look sort of crooked. As you tighten the adjuster the pump will be pulled back straight and the belt tightened. Not doing this is what causes the belt to run out of alighment after everything is tight.

    How do i put a power steering belt on a 1987 240 DL Wagon 200

    There's an adjuster mechanism on the under side. Loosen the locking nut on the side of the adjuster arm then back off the long adjuster bolt on the end of the arm. Loosen the large upper mounting bolt if needed to allow movement. If there is not enough clearance to remove/install the belt then remove the large lower mounting bolt so you can push the unit in a bit more.
