Rocker rubberized paint? 200

I am in the process of trying to clean up my 86 240. On the rockers, below each moulding, I have a rust spot back by the rear wheels. I am thinking about spraying a rubber paint on the rockers below each moulding to visually clean up the bottom edge. Has anyone used any of these rock chip or rubber type style paints? Can you recommend any? Thanks

Do any retailers sell POR-15 or can you only get it through mail order?

I do all the rocker panels on my pickups with a product called "Rock Guard". It's available in spray cans through NAPA. I have seen several fellows use a product that is used for a spray in bed liner as rock panel trim paint. Some have even had it tinted to match or contrast their vehicle color. NAPA's product is a clear product. Suggest you clean up the rust with POR-15 before doing the panels.

Thanks for the great advise. I did see the bed liner spray, I think I will go back and get that. What is the POR-15? I will check with the NAPA store, but is it some type of rust sealer? Is that the brand?

Thanks for the replies

IPD sells POR-15. If you do not have the catalog, I believe the website is .

NAPA won't have POR-15. I don't have the address, but do a search on it and you'll find it. Make sure you don't get it on you, it is very, very difficult to remove. But good stuff.

The original rocker protection is pretty well duplicated by 3M Body Schutz. It was available in an aerosol and for a spray gun. Most good bodyshop suppliers have it. I like the idea in the other post. Spray on bedliner stuff would make a great undercoating.

Did two old bricks...generic Canadian tire rocker guard stuff. Cleaned the surface killed the rust with por 15 and shot it in the driveway. Still looks great after 3 western Canadian winters.
My pops suggested using the spray on box liner stuff...much more durable. Next "touch up" will get that.
Be sure to use the paintable variety if you ever plan on a full repaint.
