A BIG Thanks to the Board! 200

Greetings,

Just wanted to say "thanks" for all the posts and FAQ's, which assisted me in accomplishing the following over the Christmas holiday: timing belt(first one!), H20 pump, tune-up, throttle body cleaning, O2 sensor, catalytic convertor, flame trap, new radiator, hoses, belts, coolant and electric fan conversion.

Failing a smog test was the reason for the cat and O2 sensor. I've eliminated vacuum leaks and notice that the exhaust has much less odor, which I am hoping means that I'll pass tomorrow. I bought the crank tool for the timing belt change and feel very confident in performng this important service.

My car runs very smooth and much quieter - probably psychological, but who cares. Next stop.......poly bushings. Thanks again

Always glad to be of service. Hope it keeps running well for you! At 400K plus, you've certainly gotten your money out of it. That's um, 26,000/yr +!

Got me beat! I think we need a survey on here of the mileage of people's cars. Mine are presently at:
1986 244DL 208,850
1987 244DL shows 207,100 est 20K more than that (came with broken speedo)
1988 744GLE 197,080
1991 244 181,500

These kind of numbers wouldn't be possible without great engineering in the first place, and 2 other factors: proper service, and a limited NEED for such service, since the designers selected materials that are compatible and wear slowly.

Glad your brick is happy and healthy again.
