I just installed a hoodliner in my 87 from a 84 or 85 boneyard doner. (would that make it a boner?) only one of the mounting holes lined up, so i had to poke and drill all new ones, making a nice cloud of dust. afterwards, it occurred to me that volvo mught have used asbestos in these pieces. does anyone know whether or not they did?

thanks for the help

i figured it was fiberglass, but it's good to know for sure that it isn't. and even if it was asbestos, i'm SOL since i already put it in.

now i can breathe easy.

Stuck in Snow is correct. It takes years of routine exposure to high concentrations of asbestos fibers to cause asbestosis (spelling?).

I recall that your car uses a composite of asbestos and depleted uranium.

Only the GLs used asbestos hood liners. The rest used fiberglass.

Actually I'm kidding. I think they were all fiberglass. The dust is usually just years of underhood debris that you dislodged. It shouldn't hurt.. although you could blow some black yuck from your nose for the rest of the day.

I highly doubt it's asbestos.....fiberglass, maybe.....

i think almost all hood liners have asbestos and/or fiberglass in there to insulate the otherside from heat.
