I pulled the front seats out of my 1988 745 turbo the other day and when I went to put them back in I found the front seatbelts had retracted too far. Now they dont want to pull out at all. Does anyone know how this could be fixed? I also have some front seatbelts from a parts car with the same problem.

It is excactly what Cliff said. The angle is what allows you to pull them out. If they're sitting even slightly out of line they won't unroll. I've gotten stuck like that with a lot of cars.

I had the very same problem... however i was able to bolt the seat in, then attach the seatbelt to the seat... then it came free... must have to do with the angle..

If you are patient and observant, you can hold the seatbelt reel in exactly the right position and convince the belt to unroll enough to reinstall the reel.

Gets even more challenging when the car is parked in a steep driveway. Ask me how I know this...
