bushings 700 1989

Another question on two different subjects.
1. does anyone know how long the rubber bushings last on the underside of the car last?

2. does anyone know if one could get the clips that hold down the trim around the side windows. Mine is coming up on one side.

Thanks for your help

On your bushings, it varies depending on your driving style, the nature of the roads you travel, if you keep the front end aligned etc. Usually the control arm and strut rod bushings (where they join the frame) last a long time. I just changed all my front bushings and these were all OK even after 180,000. The wear is usually in the strut rod "stay" or "cone" bushings where the strut rod joins the control arm. Mine were trashed. Also, the two sway bar bushings at the frame and the 8 small sway bar "link" bushings wear out fairly quickly. These were also junk on my car. For the clips, try looking at the HELP! products that a lot of the auto parts stores carry, a junkyard or ( last resort) dealer.
