Attention Volvobub 140-160

Hi

I saw a picture of your 69 145 Turbo in the picture gallery. I would like to know if the 850 wheel bolt straight on or are you running spacer or adaptors.
Because I am buying a set of 5 and I would like to fit them to my 74 144 project car

George

Hi

I went and picked up the wheel today I paid $350 Australian for 5 wheels no tyres that had been used for 60000km before they were removed and replaced with other wheels. Over the next few day I will work on my project car and make a choice on how I will fit the wheel. I will most likely run longer wheel stud and a spacer on the back to fill out the rear guards. Thankyou all for the information

George

PS my 86 v6 760 did a 800 Km round trip with out missing a beat

I tried to bolt a set of V70 steels to my 144. The bolt pattern is the same, the off set is waaay wrong. The inside edge of the rim comes so close to the wishbone it could wipe off the balance weights. You definitely need spacers. I didn't like that idea and used 960 wheels instead.

Regards

Pete

We hashed this out a few weeks ago and theres good info in that thread.I'd retype all that I submitted but I type so slowly....To sum it up I was told the same thing about spacers.I got the wheels.Test fit them and sure enough,(like pete said) they rubbed horribly on the back side of the "wishbone".I decided to mount tires anyway and give them a try realizing I couldn't turn full lock.I DO turn full lock and while I didn't try anything fancy at first I have made fast full lock turns and not experienced rubbing. My theory is that the leading edge of the tire on the oposite side of the car hits the swaybar before the wheel contacts the wishbone (control arm). That happened with the 240 turbo wheels also and since I don't turn full lock at 90 MPH I'm not too concearned.I will jack the car up today and see what I can see and maybe get some pictures. As to the offset being "wrong".I got emails telling me I'd crash, burn ,and go to hell for running that offset if I drove my car over 25 MPH! I'm still here and the car does fine at 125!

Not from me you didn't. One of the things I wanted to do when I modded the 144 was fill the rear wheel arches more effectively with wheel and tyre. Mainly to make the car look better. Because the V70 is front drive, the wheel is biased toward the inside of the car. It therefore doesn't really fill the arch as nicely as the 940 wheel, being spaced the other way, does.

Pete

2 words: Taurus Wheels 140-160

Umm, what car is always in the top several best selling cars and uses the same bolt pattern...

Ok, may not be relevent for Aus, but works wonders in North America
