suspension noises when cold 900

During our reent cold spell, I've noticed that my rear suspension is very noisey. At least is seems to be originating from the rear. It 's not exactly a grinding noise, but more metal like sound that occurs only when going over Baltimore city streets, all of which are pretty crummy. I haven't had a chance to check whether the spare or jack is secure, but it sounds more like underneath the car. It also seems to lessen the longer I drive, and typically can't be heard when the weather warms. Anyone have any ideas...shocks?

I a similar problem in the front when it's cold out. When I go over a speed bump, I can really hear the front suspension. I had the car inspected thinking it may be the struts, but the volvo mechanic told me the struts were fine. He lubed the bushings which silenced the problem for a short period of time. Just yesterday I was thinking of lubing all my bushings to see if it helps again. Problem is I don't know which bushings the mechanic lubed and with what lube he used. Does Volvo use polyurethane bushings or rubber? Poly bushings typically make more noice and need lubing with a marine grease. Just my .02 worth.

I'm not sure what type they use, but I could check. I also wondered whether those fiberglass leaf springs make noise when cold, because mine really sounds like it's coming from the rear.
