Replacing of Interior Carpet 200

Has anyone had the carpet in their car replaced? If so, is it very expensive?

    Replacing of Interior Carpet 200

You can do it yourself with hand tools. The seat belt mounts are probably the only big bolts to get out. Get a good used carpet from the newest car of your model that you can find in the junkyard. As BC says, you can wash the carpets if they're not clean enough for you. There are "molded replacement" carpets sold by other companies- they never seem to work out as well as a used factory carpet. Search this archive for "carpets" and you'll find a few bad experiences. If they come from a car that had the winter mats in it, they should be pretty clean.

    Replacing of Interior Carpet 200

When I found the carpet I needed at a junk yard, it cost about $50, as I recall. Then I spent about $5 at a U-Squirt'em car wash to give both front and back a good high-pressure hot wash and rinse. That got out everything, even some wiped-on grease from the front end parts that the nitwits at the junk yard had thrown on the floor.

It was a perfect fit, and the donor car had the same trim code so the color was a nice match.

Took several days. One to find the donor car, a half-day to wash, and another two days for them to dry. Then a half-day to install.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
