Seat Heater wiring 700

I just replaced my cloth seats in my 1990 740 with leather. My old seats do not have the same wiring for the heaters as the new ones do. Can some one shed some light on how to wire the leather seats so the heaters will work.

Get a multimeter and take a reading from the connectors under the seats. They should tell you which wire is ground and which wire is juice. After finding out, wire the seat heater accordingly and place it in the seat. You might want to test it by turning the seat heater on while its wired up. Do this before finally installing it all the way.

      Seat Heater wiring 700

My cloth seats only had 2 wires (hot and ground). The new seats have 3 wires. I know which is hot and which is ground, what I am not sure about is what I do with the 3rd wire. I think it controls the relay under the seat, but not real sure. Anyone have a clue?

That wire probably goes to a themostat that is located inside of the seat. Its a little dinky thing about a dime across. It tells the seat heater when to come on and when to go off so you can keep the heat on. Try wiring the seat up without the third wire. See if it allows you to work the heater. It might just be that you have to turn off the heater when it gets to hot.
