Low mileage used or Volvo reman? 700

I am starting to remove all the accesory parts to pull my damaged motor (89 740T, 133K,)next weekend. A very close friend's wife is a Ford dealer rep and can get huge discounts on new cars and parts. I'll find out in the next few days how much it would be for a Volvo reman block or engine thru her. So the question is: Am I better off with a used low mileage engine, (I've located a 95 w/64K) or a rebuilt engine or shortblock thru Volvo? I've read here that Volvo has their red blocks rebuilt here now instead of in Sweden and the quality of the suppliers vary. I would like to hear opinions and experiences, particulary with the Volvo reman engines. Thanks in advance.

Id just get a used one if i were you, ive seen some volvos with the org engine at and above 600k if you can find a decent one youll be good to go, same goes with the tranys, heck i picked up a burn victum from the local volvo salvage yard flushed it threw it up in the car ( with new seals of course ) and have put 20k on it so far without a problem.Id have to say the engines and trannys volvo shipped with the cars are the best in my opinion, why go new when a used one will give you the same treatment.

    VR:
go with the low milage one...it was OEM from Sweden...the others are dicey, maybe done right, maybe not...I had a B23 redone and they forgot to put in ONE oil pump seal, I had to tear open the engine a second time...not fun!!
    buena suerte,

I just spoke to one of the parts guys at Brentwood Volvo. He said as far as he knew the rebuilts they were getting still came from Sweden. I give Borton a call and see if they can verify this.
