I have a 82 GLT Wagon. I noticed the bumpers look different on later models. They are not as wide and seem to be more flush with the body.. My bumpers could be in better shape so when I do replace them, can I upgrade to a later model bumper..like an 84 model, for example..?? They seem to be identical cars with different looking bumpers.. just wanted to get your feedback..

Yes, I agree that the bumper configuration on the 1983-4-5 is a better look. However, that change was because the Feds requirement went from a 5mph to a 3mph. So the 82 5mph is better protection. But - change it if you wish.

Wander through a recycle (aka junk) yard to look over the differences.

Look better? Maybe.

But protect MUCH less.

I've taken my later model 240's and converted them back to the pre-'83 units for added protection.

The swap is fairly easy, but you'll have one exposed hole in the fender.
